Yom Kippur “Gmar Chatima Tova” and 13 mile long run..training hard…

“Gmar Chatima Tova” Good final sealing.

With the Covid Pandemic still happening ,our temple offered in person services or Facebook live services for Yom Kippur.

I spent my holiday at home, listening to the service on Facebook live.   Nothing beats a comfortable couch.

The week prior to Yom Kippur was very nice.  I saw my family and my husband’s family both in one week.  I enjoyed catching up with everyone.   Lots of good eating.  Many sweet, sugary foods to usher in a sweet new year.   I definitely indulged my sweet tooth.    I am glad I had a long run scheduled few days later to burn off all that sugar.

Other than visiting family, it was a quiet week for me.  I had plenty time to run.  My training schedule last week called for 3 miles, another 3 miles. 4 miles and a 13-mile run.

I am following the Jeff Galloway Dopey Training Schedule.

I chose to run my 13-miles in honor of the memory of the 13 soldiers who lost their lives.  To make the run more meaningful, few runners from The Run Dopey Training Group and I decided to dedicate each mile to the fallen soldiers.

This run felt hard because of the heat. It was about 77 degrees during my run. But I kept on pushing, and visualizing a volunteer putting medals around my neck as I crossed the Disney Marathon finish line. Just keep moving. I am glad the cooler weather is on its way . The last 3 miles was done on a treadmill to escape the heat. 13 miles ….checked off.

That night, I made a Dessert Rice Crispy Treat Turkey to humor my family. I was making it for the Yom Kippur Fast Break. It took some time but it was worth it. My family loved the dessert.   Plus, Turkeys are always served as a celebratory meal.

Earlier this week, I got a surprise in the mail from Run Disney. Four Disney 5k Medals!

This summer, I participated in the Run Disney Lion King Virtual Summer Series 5k runs to keep me motivated to run throughout the summer.  Each 5k earns you one of a kind Disney medals.  I love the medals.    What a perfect close for my summer racing season. As I mentioned in a previous blog post, I am heading to Disney World in January for the Dopey Challenge. (5k 10k 13.1 and 26.2)

Hope everyone has a meaningful blessed year.
