Keep Running

Boston Marathon…. I will see you next year……

The running of the 124th Boston Marathon April 19, 2021 will be amazing.

The Boston Marathon has been part of my life for almost 20 years. …  I am thankful for all the kind runners I have met, to being a runner on the Liver Marathon team and the many gifts that running has given me, from fitness to my self-worth.

My 26.2-mile journey from Hopkinton to Boston has been traveled in many different weather conditions.   I have run Boston in rainy, stormy, sunny, cloudy, cold, heat and windy conditions.

Sometimes, I was not able to complete my journey due to circumstances that are out of my control. For example, the year of the bombings, and the 2018 freezing rain storm.

On September 14th …I will run an amazing safe virtual race, whether it be a 5k, 10k or close to a Marathon.

Time to run……

……………..

I am very fortunate to have a quiet neighborhood track to use. I like running on the track because it is very peaceful and I am able to escape all the Covid 19 talk.  I can spend a few hours with a couple of like-minded runners( social distance of-course)  and experience serenity which is difficult to do in a large crowd. The track has become my escape.

During these hard times,  I feel like I am  becoming a more efficient, and faster runner.

Boston Marathon…..I will be ready ….

When I’m not running….

I am Home Sweet Home..

I am grateful that I am quarantined with my spouse, daughter and dogs …

My emotional, mental and physical wellbeing is good.   Happy for all the good in my life.

Happy Mother’s Day ….Virtual run …Running Is NOT Cancelled

Happy Mother’s Day.

To celebrate my special day, I ran a virtual Mother’s Day run.  It was a great run.

This run supported  ..WINGS ..breaking the cycle of Domestic Violence .  The rest of the day was spent relaxing in my home.

By the way, my husband gave me the ideal Mother’s Day gift…. he kept me company as I ran my Virtual Mom 5k.

He knows me well…skip the flowers, cards  and fragrance stuff….

RUN…………..

…………………………………………………..

During times of uncertainty, my mantra has been to get some outdoor exercise and enjoy the fresh air. Our country feels dark and gloomy. Sometimes, I feel like I am going to snap.   Running has allowed me to feel refreshed.  I am  very fortunate to have a operating track near my house and trails.

…………….

Earlier this week, I ran a Virtual Social Distancing 6k.

Runner’s together…but six feet apart. This race supported the Food Banks during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Virtual racing

My spring races have been cancelled; I miss them.   Last May, every weekend was booked with a 5k, 10k or Half Marathon. It is a struggle to stay motivated, when the Coronavirus put a halt to racing.

Wondering what do with myself on weekend mornings, runners suggested virtual races.  It is a race that can be run at any location for example, your home or around your neighborhood.  These races also offer great running medals, shirts and benefit worthy charities.

This weekend my first virtual run was The Great Toilet Paper Chase of 2020, ( 16 mile run for toilet paper) 🙂

The race supports

Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund through the World Health Organization
