Another Disney race weekend done!
I have my 10k Medal.
I have my Half Marathon Medal.
I have my Challenge Medal.
Friday:
My husband, oldest daughter Carrie and her fiancée John and I flew from Boston to Orlando. I was the only runner. My family was there to enjoy a vacation and keep me company.
. We decided to stay at the Grand Floridian. I love the hotel because it’s absolutely amazing. I love the pool, rooms, food, atmosphere staff etc.
We arrived early Friday morning, checked in, and then had lunch.
After lunch, I went to the expo alone to pick up my running bibs and to walk around. My family is not into running “stuff,” so they preferred to visit the Magic Kingdom.
The expo was held at the Wide World of Sports. It was very easy to pick up my number and running shirts.
I also met Jeff Galloway at the expo.
Dinner Italian, then bed for a very early wake up call.
Saturday 10k race 6.2 miles:
I got up Saturday morning at 2:30am, took a quick shower, grabbed a snack and headed to the Disney buses that drove all runners to start of the race. I basically waited at the start area for about an hour and then it was time to go to our assigned corral. The official start was at 5:30 am. My corral was released around 6: 00am. The race began at the Magic Kingdom Parking lot, traveled around Epcot and then to Space Ship Earth for the finish.
Overall… I took it very easy during the race and finished at a comfortable pace. My biggest concern was conserving my energy for the Half on Sunday. I had a fun race.
For dinner, Narcoossee’s a restaurant on the Disney’s Waterfront
Sunday 13.1 Half Marathon:
Up again at 2:30 am!
This race ran through Animal Kingdom. Hollywood Studios and Epcot. I felt good throughout the race.
Another fun race.
